Notes: The Orance County gateway runs under the "cellular concept" as a

low level server to local orange county stations only. Users wishing to

access the LA county area should use the gate.w6ue gateway instead.

User ports are 144.990, 438.975 at 9600 baud and 145.630 at 1200.

Amateurs requesting access should e-mail wb6omc@wb6omc.ampr.org

Notes: There is no actual radio on this gateway. However, it is directly

connected by slip to switch.k4ry which has several radio ports.

This machine is not intended to provide services, it will only act

as a gateway. Interesting nodes closely connected are switch.k4ry

and bbs.k4ry. We also hope to have a connection east to Georgia

(GRAPES) soon, probably at 56kb.

Convers server name: Michigan (wsu1.n8fow) and Detroit (wsu.n8fow)

Notes:

- 147.58 MHz TCP/IP

- UHF 9600 backbone link to MoTown.ampr.org.

- Current Detroit/Pontiac area weather available every hour via

finger server at wsu1.n8fow.ampr.org.

- This system is actually 2 systems. hamgate.cc.wayne.edu and

wsu.n8fow.ampr.org are both a Linux operating system running

the IPIP daemon and is also the primary router and acts as a

convers server hub (Michigan). The wsu1.n8fow.ampr.org system

is a TNOS for Linux that sits behind the router and is the

primary 'user interface' that contains a NOS mailbox, convers

server (Detroit), and other features. This is also the system that

is responsible for the radio ports.

Notes:

- World Wide Web alias www.n8fow.ampr.org

- Web home page at http://www.n8fow.ampr.org/ (it should load fairly

decently too with text based browsers over packet)

- The convers server acts as a hub and backup system for other hubs

and is the primary application running on the machine.

- This system is for the experimenter and developer. There are no BBS

or NOS style services. It's used only for the experimentation with

networking operating systems such as Unix, Windows, OS/2, etc...

and for running REAL applications like newsreaders, filesystem

sharing, Web servers, blah blah blah... We do have a login of ' bbs '

though that'll connect to the main Detroit area packet TCP/IP BBS which

also has access to the regular packet network for all of Southeast

Michigan. You can connect directly to that system though by telnetting

to dtwgate.ampr.org [44.102.48.1].

This is a dedicated system for Amprnet Encapsulation serving

the Seattle/Puget Sound area.

Western Washington has an extensive TCP/IP network of over 20 subnets

on both 1200b simplex and 9600b repeaters. A number of sites are

located at US West New Vector Cell sites linked via 19.2k dedicated

microwave/fiberoptic links. Telnet to seanvg.ampr.org [44.24.108.1]

for a good starting point.

Currently we do not support TELNET, FTP or SMTP to wetnet.wa.com or

wetnet.ampr.org. FTP and WWW support will be added at a future date.

The gateway is located at NWNEXUS a commercial Internet

service provider, in Bellevue, WA.

The equipment consists of a Compaq 386SX16 system provided courtesy

of US West New Vector Corporation. The system runs Linux 1.2.x with

native mode AX.25 support and P-P convers. It has a 9600-baud modem/radio,

(AEA PK-96 and TEKK Radio) beamed directly to the US West New Vector

Cell site in Issaquah where it accesses the 441.975+ 9600-baud packet

repeater.

Notes: This system has direct coverage of the Salt Lake City area at

1200 baud on 145.150 MHz and at 9600 baud on 431.750 MHz. This

system functions as the main gateway for Utah and routes all

44.40.4,5,6,7,8,14 and 15 subnets (Davis, Weber, Box Elder Co.)

to their appropriate gateways (i.e. 'byugate', 'usugate', 'wsugate')

Work to significantly upgrade the Utah packet network is underway.

The radio ports on UUGATE are on frequencies that are primarily

used by TCP/IP stations and the majority of the AX.25 network

(which is on 145.05) is reachable by digipeating via 'wa7slg-15'

'wa7aki-3' on port TNC2. A suggested node through this path is SLC5.

This system consists of 2 machines: UUHINGE sits between UUGATE and

the Internet and acts as a router. UUGATE is the BBS. All non-BBS

to be routed via UUHINGE!

This Eastern Pennsylvania Internet <--> Amprnet Gateway

routes all IP traffic (including Amprnet --> Internet) to

the WG2W Gateway. On the Amprnet (radio) side, the K3NAL

Gateway ties in with nawc.k3nal.ampr.org [44.80.8.70]

which is our local packet switch, via a slip connection.

Someone said that encap was "the ultimate firewall breaker"

and I am taking advantage of that here. Our Cisco router

will not pass outgoing 44 traffic and it would take an act

of Congress, or at least more effort than I want to put into

it, to get that changed.

What this means is that the return path to your gateways will

still be encapped to WG2W and then encapped to your Gateway.

IPaccess on the K3NAL Gateway permits outgoing Amprnet -->

Internet traffic but no Internet --> Amprnet traffic, except

in selected (cleared with me) cases.

operates 24 hours a day at my house. I run a Gracilis PackeTen node

(ILLOM:KA9SCF-1) which has a 9600 bps TCP/IP LAN and a 9600 UHF

backbone port. This area is supposed to get subnet routing very soon

so I didn't put all the route entries of any other stations besides my

own because the list would be quite long because here zip codes

determine the IP address you get. ka9scf is the main system for

telnet. ka9scf-2 is the Linux machine which will run ping pong

converse for the area.

This gateway supplements/replaces the ke9yq gateway for the eastern

portion of the Chicagoland area, as its radio path is much

quicker/shorter than the ke9yq path. Currently, the links operate

at a minimum of 9600bps, with 230kbps and higher links in

operation/planning stages.

Notes: This is a *TEST* connection only and may not last long. The

link

into net 128.109.57 is a 14.4k baud slip link.

Propagation from the gateway host is poor right now, but should

improve as soon as I get the Micor that is planned... The radio is

currently an ICOM IC-24AT putting out 5 watts...

It listens well, but transmits poorly and is sorely over-qualified

for the current job.
